HHLA PLT Italy (PLT) is preparing the construction of a major port expansion in Trieste and is creating the team to follow the planning and preparation and the execution of the works. In this team we are looking for an experienced Safety Specialist.
Scope of work:
The Safety Specialist is vital for the success of the project. The Safety specialist manages all safety related aspects, with a strong focus on automation, technology, operational processes and certification. The Safety Specialist takes ownership of all safety related matters and actively suggest the best options to the Project Management. The role has internal and external stakeholders.
Summary of responsibilities:
- Lead all safety activities
- Make sure all safety requirements are included in the design and in the execution methods
- Review processes and related automation/equipment from a safety point of view
- Challenge the status-quo and actively suggest way to enhance safety
- Build-up the safety framework (risk level, likelihood, SILL, etc.), keep up to date and advise on best practices
- Manage the safety certification
- Implement Italian/EU/other safety legislation
- Perform risk assessments and train others in risk assessments
- Collaborate to advance safety while meeting the business objectives
- Manage internal and external stakeholders for all safety related topics
- Conduct on-site investigations and analyze safety data / reports
- Optimize safety solutions in terms of planning, impact and cost
- Carry out safety and safety feasibility studies
- Provide expert advice to the Project Management
- Accurate filing of technical documentation, structured approach in collaboration with the Document Controller
- Support where required the Project Management
Profile:
We’re looking for an experienced safety specialist excited to join the largest port development in Italy and to challenge the existing way of thinking with regards to safety. The person maintains the highest technical and safety standards. The person is an all-rounder in all safety fields. The role requires a pro-active approach and problem-solving in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good English and Italian (German is a plus)
- Experience (5+ year(s)) in safety (design, implementation, supervision, etc.)
- Experience (5+ year(s)) formal / safety documents & regulatory approvals
- Thorough understanding of automation / robotics (previous terminal experience is a plus)
- Thorough understanding of safety guidelines and international practices
- Able to multi-task several projects
- Professional with a hands-on mentality
- Experience in obtaining regulatory approvals
- Ability to network and manage across internal and external support offices
- Ability to network with internal and external stakeholders
- Degree in Business/Engineering/Law or related
- IOSH/NEBOSH certification
The ideal candidate would have a valid EU working permit and would be willing to relocate to Trieste in short notice.
